Description

The Schilthorn is one of the PERMOS Reference Sites for permafrost monitoring in the Swiss Alps. The installations include one 14 m and two 100 m deep boreholes (one vertical and one oblique, drilled in the scope of the PACE project), a meteo station at the drill site, fixed installed ERT monitoring profiles along and across the Schilthorn crest, rock temperature loggers in near-vertical and flat rock, and mini loggers that measure near-surface temperatures in the loose surface material on both sides of the crest.
